Beginnings
Kaleb e.V., Cambodia was created in December 2004, after a vision in prayer was received, to respond to the immense needs of the children living on the streets of Phnom Penh. Many of these children have fled from rural provincial areas, forced to leave their homes due to a number of desperate family situations.
Programs | Bethlehem Night Shelter
The Bethlehem night shelter offers a safe place for homeless street children during the night. It also provides for their basic needs, i.e. proper nutrition, clothing, personal hygiene, medical care, fellowship, and counseling. Its staff is committed to listening to their felt needs and helping the children to meet them.
Programs | Reintegration Program
The reintegration program offers residential rehabilitation for those street children who want to quit living on the street. Dependent on the age and educational background of the child, the form of schooling he receives will vary.
Programs | Family Unit
The family unit provides full-time care for children who want to be reintegrated into the public school system, but cannot stay with their families due to domestic violence, poverty, lack of schools in the provinces, or death of the parents.
Programs | Prevention Program
The prevention program reduces abandonment of children by financially strengthening families in crisis. It also includes an annual community improvement project, which doesn't support a village on an individual basis, but on a collective one, with the intention of promoting equality among the villagers.
Programs | Character Building
In order for the young generation to be safe in an unsafe world, we teach them to choose good over evil. Honesty, justice, integrity, courage, and other character traits are important for the children to know as many parents in Cambodia are not using their formative influence to instill values in their children.
